Amalia Adam, KUE's student from Romania

Amalia Adam, a KUE student from Romania: studying abroad brings you closer to a better future!

From Romania to Poland. Amalia talks about her move to Krakow and experiencing studies abroad. She emphasises that education in a foreign country is always a contribution to your development.

Welcome Centre: Hi! Nice to have you join the project!

Amalia: Hi! I'm excited about it too!

Welcome Centre: Please tell us something about yourself. What are you doing at KUE?

Amalia: I'm Amalia from Romania. I came to KUE to study obviously – I am currently in my first year of Modern Business Management here.

Welcome Centre: Cool! And why this choice? Why Krakow and this particular major?

Amalia: Well, I chose Modern Business Management because it is the career path I want to follow in the future. I think it will be a good start and a foundation for my further development. And why Krakow? I moved here in July 2022 and I still find myself captivated by the beauty of the architecture and the atmosphere of this city.

Welcome Centre: So it was love at first sight?

Amalia: Exactly! But I made the decision to study in Poland back in 2019, when I visited Krakow for the first time. Even then I was entranced by how friendly the people were and the beauty of the city.

Welcome Centre: And has anything else surprised you here?

Amalia: Romania and Poland, contrary to appearances, are not that different. Apart from the observations I mentioned, I haven’t had many culture shocks. We share a similar cuisine, culture and even lifestyle to some extent.

Welcome Centre: That's interesting.

Amalia: After just a few months of living here and working with my peers, I don't see any significant differences. Of course, apart from the language – this is the main barrier upon arrival in a new country. But I'm working on that too!

Welcome Centre: Right, the language. Does it give you trouble?

Amalia: It does a little. But that's why we have English! I study in this language and it allows a real exchange of thoughts and ideas with my classmates. The fact that I have an opportunity to meet people from around the world is a huge advantage, so I don’t always need to use Polish to communicate. I get to understand different mindsets, different perspectives and various manners of staying in touch with others. This being said, I firmly believe that another country means another open door to a brighter future, a great way to develop yourself.

Welcome Centre: A very reasonable attitude! And coming back to your studies, how would you evaluate them?

Amalia: What I really like about my studies is the fact that they combine business with pleasure. In addition to studying, there is also a lot of room to experience student life, take part in events, etc.

Welcome Centre: And would you change anything?

Amalia: The real maze that awaits freshmen is the schedule. It is very complicated at first glance. But I have grown used to that too.

Welcome Centre: Of course! Do you have any recommendations for anyone who is considering studying in Poland?

Amalia: Remember that there is nothing to be afraid of – that's the most important thing! Going abroad is an exciting, but at the same time responsible approach to your personal and professional development. You have nothing to lose!

Welcome Centre: We think so too! Thank you so much Amalia for sharing your thoughts.

Amalia: Thanks! It was a pleasure to meet you!
