As a foreigner, you are subject to legal regulations governing your stay in Poland.
The procedure of legalisation of stay is different for EU/EFTA citizens and for non-EU/EFTA citizens.

EU/EFTA CITIZENS:
EU/EFTA citizens are allowed to enter Poland and stay within its territory up to 3 months on the basis of a valid travel document (passport) or other valid document confirming their identity and citizenship.
In the case of a stay longer than 3 months, the registration form must be submitted in person to the Małopolskie Voivode, no later than the day after the end of the three-month stay in the country.

Documents to be submitted:
- 1 copy of the registration form filled in Polish
- 1 photocopy of a valid document confirming identity and citizenship
- a document confirming that the foregoing conditions of stay have been met
- a confirmation of acceptance or continuation of studies
- a document confirming health insurance coverage
- a written declaration on having sufficient funds to support oneself, or a proof of having the above-mentioned funds
Documents can only be submitted after prior reservation of the appointment by email: ue@muw.pl
Any documents drawn up in a foreign language must be provided with a sworn translation into Polish.
The whole procedure is free of charge.
non-EU/EFTA CITIZENS:
The application for a temporary residence permit must be submitted in person, no later than on the last day of legal stay in Poland to the Małopolska Voivode.

Documents to be submitted:
- 2 copies of the application for a temporary residence permit
- 4 recent colour photographs
- 2 photocopies of a valid travel document (passport)
- a confirmation of acceptance or continuation of studies
- proof of payment of the required tuition fee if they are payable
- a document confirming health insurance coverage, or a copy of the contract concluded with the National Health Fund and confirmation of payment of the ZUS contribution for the last month
- proof of possessing sufficient funds to cover the costs of living and return travel to the country of origin or residence and the cost of tuition
- transcript of records
- information about utilities expenses (such as electricity, water, waste disposal, heating, and sewage)
Documents can only be submitted after prior reservation of the appointment by email: rezerwacja.opt@muw.pl
The subject of the email should be "legalizacja pobytu” (legalization of stay).
In the email you must also submit a completed table provided by the Office.
Persons applying for a temporary residence permit bear the costs of PLN 340 (stamp duty) and PLN 50 (fee for issuing the residence card).
Any documents drawn up in a foreign language must be provided with a sworn translation into Polish.
